Winston Street

Walking in LA: I always love me a splash of color in an otherwise dreary street.

Saúl

Saúl Hernández: dude is a Rock en Español legend
Los Caifanes performed at the Nokia Theatre this past weekend.  It was such a trip seeing them live, singing and dancing to songs that I have been singing and dancing to since I was a teenager.  Also a treat was seeing the older people go wild - people who you know got to see Los Caifanes perform live when they were blowing up in the late 80s and who never imagined they would see the group touring again.  Luckily, they are.  And they are as bad-ass as ever.
Viva el rock.

Sequoia Camping Weekend

I gotta say that our first camping experience was a success.  We had a ton of fun despite some unanticipated conditions.  And by unanticipated conditions I mean snow!  Out of the 20+ people in our group, no one thought that there would actually be snow (and a lot of it).  Yeah, the forecast had said that it snowed a little bit a few days before, but the days were sunny and warm so we figured any snow would have melted by the time we got there.  We were very wrong.  Nonetheless, we made the best of it!  Thank goodness for campfires because otherwise sitting outside at night would have been unbearable.

Home for 2 nights.
A major highlight: seeing the insanely impressive Sequoias.  Also, the snow covered forest was breathtaking.

We were a little bit apprehensive about taking Lola da pug because we weren't sure how she would do in the cold outdoors.  We were regretting bringing her the moment we saw the snow, but it turned out that she loved it!  The pug is definitely a little trooper.

We for sure want to do more of this.  If anything, we learned one valuable camping lesson: always carry an emergency pair of rainboots when you go to the mountains.

Disappearing

Bye bye, city.  We're off to Sequoia Natl Park for a weekend of camping (which we have never done)!  This is probably going to sound lame, but I have never slept in a tent.  I've never been much of an outdoorsy person mostly because I was never really introduced to it at any point growing up.  Same for the husband.  But we're all about trying new adventures.  So here's to smores, finally seeing what a bear box is, and freezing our assess off in 20 degrees F nights.  Be back on Monday!

Yuck

Pigeons: rats with wings.  Got no love for these rodents.  But they take good pictures.

Can It Be Weekend Already?

...cuz I'm ready for another adventure.  This past one included a hike in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Rolling hills, blue skies, the Pacific Ocean: what more can you ask of a Saturday morning?

Hoops

Happy 1st day of October!  October is always such a fun month: scary movies on TV, Halloween parties, haunted houses, candy, and pumpkin spice lattes (mmmm).  What's not to love about Halloween season?  Maybe just the cold weather, but that's what scarves are for!
And yeah the foto of the day has nothing to do with October, but it's all I got for today.  Gonna have to put "take pictures at a pumpkin patch" on my list of items to accomplish this month.
