We're not planning on changing diapers anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I love childrens but we're having too much fun being young and in love in the city. But, I've been wanting a dog for so long. We finally took the plunge, and let me tell you: holy shit it's a lot of responsibility! It's enough to remind us that, no, we indeed are not ready to take on the real responsibility of another human being just yet. Luckily, we're capable of taking care of a puppy...barely.

Let me break it down for you: this dog has needs. You need to train her to not pee-pee or poo-poo in the house, she needs to be exercised, you need to feed her, you have to worry about what to do with her when you and your husband will be out of the house, gotta clean your house all the time cuz she smells like dog and you don't want your place smelling like dog, you gotta discipline her when she misbehaves (sad face), and you have to teach her shit (like sit, stay. You want her to be obedient and smart, right?)

She is so worth it though! Lola is the craziest puppy; she brings us hours of entertainment and laughs. So while we won't be poppin' out the babies anytime soon, we'll have plenty to keep us occupied in the meantime.

Tortolitos in Napa

Has it really been almost two months since I last updated this? Sheesh, how embarrassing. I've been a bad blogger! I'm not even going to try to dish out excuses. There are none. I just gotta get back on my blogging game.

How bout some honeymoon recaps, ey? I've been meaning to write about the awesomeness that was our honeymoon anyway. And then maybe I'll move on to write about the wedding.

Anyway: Honeymoon! I'm not sure if I mentioned this in our blog earlier, but we decided to honeymoon in California's wine country: Napa. We made this decision after I lost my job early in the summer and were forced to make some major changes. We nixed the idea of a two week adventure in Spain and Morocco (would have been nice, wouldn't it?) and replaced it with a three day getaway to the more local wine country. Sounds like a major trade-off, right? Actually, it wasn't that big of a deal and ended up being the perfect option for us. We knew that we still wanted to get away, just the two of us, after the wedding. After three days of rest & relaxation we were actually more than eager to come home, clean up our house, and continue with normal (non-wedding planning) life together. We just needed a couple days to recharge, sleep-in, and indulge in the fact that we were finally husband and wife. It worked out perfectly (and it didn't hurt that we were accompanied by a glass of wine everywhere we went)!

The getaway began bright and early the morning after our wedding. It wasn't nearly as painful as it sounds, probably because we were so excited for a vacation. We jumped on our 10am Southwest flight to Oakland, proceeded to check in for our rental car, and drove about another hour north to Napa.


I got really excited when we started seeing rolling hills, open land, greenery.


The bed & breakfast that we stayed at: The Inn on First. Seriously. Awesome. We loved this place. It was romantic, hospitable, had delicious food. What more could we ask for?



One of the owners is an excellent chef. He personally prepares breakfast for all of the guests every day. One of the best parts about staying here was waking up to a homemade, fresh, and super delish breakfast. This is just a preview of breakfast for one of the mornings we were there. YUMMM. Makes me wanna go back now.



Okay, so every time somebody asks me how the honeymoon went, I gush about this part. The chef/owner makes chocolate chip cookies every day and keeps them out throughout the day for guests to help themselves. Let me tell you that I am a freakin' cookie monster. I especially love me a fresh, homemade cookie. I was all up on those for three days straight. And don't tell anyone, but I totally stashed a handful of them in my purse before leaving. You know...for the road.


So basically, we slept, ate cookies, drank wine, and ate lots of other good food for those three days. Here we are at our first dinner as husband & wife at Cole's Chop House in downtown Napa. Steak & lobster: yummy!


Did I mention we drank lots of wine? Well we did, thanks mostly to our wine tour bus:


It drove us around through beautiful scenery.


And it took us to cool wineries like these. Seriously. They don't look like a wineries, huh?

The wine tour was super fun. For anyone heading over to Napa: take a wine tour! Trust me, it's so worth it to not worry about having to be a designated driver.

That's our honeymoon in a nutshell. Not too eventful, but perfect for us. It was our first time visiting Napa, and we really really liked it. I hope we get to go back sometime soon. It's close enough to us to make it a weekend trip, and it was a great break from city life (and the craziness of wedding planning.)
